Roof windows flood loft and top-floor spaces with light, but that same placement can turn light management into a genuine challenge when the sun sits directly overhead. Kelly's Blinds fits skylight blackout blinds specifically engineered for angled roof windows, compatible with major brands including Velux, Fakro and Keylite.
Every installation near Elephant Park or Strata is carried out with precision, ensuring the fabric stays taut against the glass and the light blockage stays total.
Kelly's Blinds has fitted enough skylight blackout blinds across London's regeneration areas to know that a rushed measurement shows within weeks. Around the retail podiums around the town centre, that means taking the time to get the roof-window blackout fabric right the first time, backed by our quality fitting guarantee.
Because Elephant and Castle sits across several different freeholders and management companies, we're used to working within whatever access arrangements a particular building near the retail podiums around the town centre requires, from booked lift slots to out-of-hours access for occupied offices.
Our fitters carry a working stock of common roof-window blackout fabric components on every visit near the retail podiums around the town centre, so a straightforward skylight blackout blinds installation rarely needs a second appointment just to fetch a part that should have been anticipated the first time.
Blackout roof blinds are a versatile solution for a variety of attic and top-floor spaces. In bedrooms, they ensure total darkness and optimal sleep conditions; in loft living rooms, they create a shaded environment perfect for relaxation by eliminating screen glare.
By investing in these high-performance shades, you gain protection from excessive sunlight and improve the energy efficiency of the room — acting as a barrier against solar heat gain in summer and trapping warmth inside during winter, making the space usable and comfortable all year round.
Elephant and Castle's residents and businesses are, in many cases, the first occupants of their building — which means there's rarely an existing skylight blackout blinds installation to match or replace. We treat every enquiry near the university campuses off Newington Causeway as a genuinely blank slate, working from the window dimensions and the room's actual use rather than assuming what a 'typical' specification should look like in a new development.
That approach extends to aftercare. As the area's population and business mix keeps shifting, our quality fitting guarantee means a skylight blackout blinds installation fitted this year is still covered if it needs attention next year, regardless of how much has changed on the street outside.

Complete light exclusion through the roof window supports genuinely restful sleep in top-floor conversions, where a normal blackout blind can’t be fitted to an angled roof window.
Yes — our fitting is compatible with Velux, Fakro and Keylite roof windows, which covers most of the skylights found across Elephant and Castle’s converted and top-floor spaces.
Yes — insulating fabrics help manage heat gain and loss under the roof through the year, which matters in loft spaces that heat up quickly in summer and lose heat quickly in winter.
Every blind is measured on site against the actual roof window make and model, fitted precisely by our own team, and backed by our quality fitting guarantee across every unit in a building.

Loft conversions and top-floor units feature among the mix of buildings in Elephant and Castle's regeneration area, alongside the more common vertical glazing of the new towers around Elephant Park and Strata.
For those roof windows, skylight blackout blinds are the only reliable way to achieve a genuinely dark, comfortable room — professionally fitted to match the specific window brand and code.
For facilities teams and letting agents, that means a fitting partner who can adapt to a building that is still, in effect, being finished — coordinating around other trades near the university campuses off Newington Causeway rather than expecting a fully settled site.
It also means demand is genuinely mixed rather than seasonal: new occupiers are moving into buildings near the university campuses off Newington Causeway throughout the year, not just at the start of a typical moving season, which keeps our local fitting schedule busy on a rolling basis.
That pace of change also affects how a fitting service needs to operate day to day: access arrangements, building management contacts and even street names around the university campuses off Newington Causeway can shift as each phase completes, so a supplier that only ever worked from an old site plan quickly falls behind.
As Elephant and Castle continues to fill in around Elephant Park and Strata, Kelly's Blinds remains a consistent point of contact for skylight blackout blinds fitting, regardless of which developer or landlord is managing the building.
