Roller blinds are operating by rolling a fabric sheet around a cylindrical aluminium tube which is usually fitted at the top of a window. They can be controlled by a sidewinder mechanism with metal chain or tubular motor. When the chain or cord is pulled, the blind is rolling down to cover the window. By pulling the chain the other way, the blind is rised. Some roller blinds include features like cassette box and side channels, providing versatility in light and privacy control.
